Cait Clawson
Cait Clawson started in K9 SAR in Los Angeles, CA where she certified her first wilderness dog, Redford, with CARDA (California Rescue Dog Association). She and Redford deployed across the state of California to assist Law Enforcement in finding living and deceased missing persons. She and Redford were also high altitude certified (Cal OES Type 1 search environment).
She has since moved back to her native Salt Lake City and certified her new K9 partner, Swayze, with FEMA Utah Task Force 1 and was formerly with California Task Force 6 (Riverside).
Swayze is a female Belgian Malinois, and although she is small, she is mighty. She has a zest for life and while she can seem intimidating to those who don’t know her, she is actually a nutty sweetheart. To say she loves to tug is an understatement. A more accurate statement would be that tug is her drug!
She and Cait are honored to assist Northwest K9 in their mission to search for and recover missing persons across the many states in which they deploy.
Cait and Swayze are certified in:
FEMA USAR Human Remains (Canine Search Specialist)
CARDA Wilderness Air Scent (Live Find)
CARDA Large Source Cadaver (C2)
CARDA Type 1 (Cal OES High Altitude Search Environment)
Wilderness First Responder (WFR)
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT, Utah)
